Redoing the Double Diamond to facilitate teamwork in design for services

Abstract

This paper proposes a project management tool to facilitate teamwork in designing for services, which has been developed by Service Design postgraduate Master students as part of a 14-week live project of service design in public sector. Building upon the Double Diamond model (Design Council, 2006), the purposed tool visualises the iterative workflow of our design journey, focusing on recording the design methods employed and the insights gained. The authors argue that the tool facilitates non-hierarchical teamwork, and assists to increase design teams’ awareness and transparency of choices made, leading to a better assessment of design processes and outcomes.
